Sunday Rundown for December 27, 2009

December 27, 2009Matt Suermann

Good Morning Red Hampshire!  I hope you all had a restful Christmas with friends and family.  Even though it is a holiday weekend, politics never takes a break.  Here’s the short rundown for today:

Columns:

Shoenberg and Landrigan are both off this week.

State House Dome (UL print and e-editions only): Heated exchanges over the State House complex gun ban, more LLC tax hearings unlikely in the Southern part of the state, and initial campaign finance reports are in for the special election to fill Gatsas’ seat.

City Hall (UL print and e-editions only): Alderman Roy wants the director of Youth Services out, Lopez likely to be chairman of the Aldermanic board for 2 more years, and controversy over the city teacher’s union head sending a fund raising request to city work accounts.

Op Eds:

UL: John H. Sununu, NHGOP Chair and former NH Governor, and John Stephen, former commissioner of Health and Human Services, co author a piece which eviscerates the Senate health care bill and Sen. Shaheen and Gov. Lynch for not standing up to NH values.

Concord Monitor: Burns looks at the decade that was and what stories made for some interesting liberal columnist fodder along the way.

Editorials:

UL: They look at the irony of an Epping selectman’s attempt to block CSP’s use of the town hall.  Especially since she’s been so disinterested in holding a town hall before.
