NHGOP:
NHGOP TO LYNCH: REFUND 2009 LLC INCOME TAX
Governor Can’t Have It Both Ways – He Must Repeal EVERY Part Of His Job-Killing LLC Income Tax
CONCORD – The New Hampshire Republican State Committee today demanded that Governor Lynch refund 2009 collections of his disastrous job-killing LLC income tax to New Hampshire small business owners. Facing the most difficult re-election campaign of his career, Lynch announced today that supports a partial repeal of the LLC income tax that he signed into law.
“The only reason why John Lynch is even considering a repeal of his job-killing LLC income tax is because he is afraid that a fiscally conservative Republican will beat him in November. The Governor repeatedly lied to New Hampshire voters when he told them that his disastrous tax wouldn’t kill jobs, and he is only reversing his position now that he is facing the toughest re-election campaign of his career,” said NHGOP Communications Director Ryan Williams. “But he can’t have it both ways – John Lynch must completely repeal this income tax and refund all 2009 collections to New Hampshire’s small business owners.”
The Union Leader (3/5) reports that Lynch wants to leave his disastrous LLC Income tax in place for 2009 business activity.
State Senate Republicans:
Republican Statement on Lynch’s LLC Tax Flip Flop
Concord, NH – Today, Senate Minority Leader Peter Bragdon (R-Milford) issued the following statement in response to press reports that Governor Lynch now publicly supports a repeal of the LLC tax.
“Although I am pleased Governor Lynch has finally realized how bad this job-killing income tax on small businesses is, his proposed solution does not go far enough. Not only should the tax be repealed for 2010, as the governor proposes, it should be repealed for 2009, as well, and refunds should be issued for every cent paid by small business owners. If the tax is bad for 2010 then it is just as bad for 2009.”
The Union Leader is reporting that Lynch told members of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce today that he favors repeal of the tax for 2010.
John Stephen:
Stephen Comments On Governor Lynch’s Flip-Flop On LLC Tax
MANCHESTER, NH- John Stephen, Republican candidate for Governor, today offered the following statement on Governor Lynch’s decision to reverse his position on the tax on limited liability corporations (LLC) and to seek a repeal of the tax for the second year of the current state budget.
“Governor Lynch’s flip-flop on the job-killing income tax on small business is good news for the businesses of the state for next year. Sadly, these same companies will not be able to create new jobs and grow their companies this year as a result of this poorly conceived, backdoor income tax. I call on the Governor and legislature to end his LLC tax right now and refund any funds collected from employers this year.
“If Governor Lynch had taken the time to listen to small businesses before he signed this tax that was passed at the 11th hour of the budget discussions, he would have known about the huge damage this LLC tax would have on our economy. The sad part is that many business owners had to travel from Nashua to Plymouth to have their voices heard because the Lynch administration was just as tone deaf in developing the rules for this tax as they were in passing this job-killing scheme.”
