Guinta could beat Shea-Porter, but will he have a primary?
April 29, 2009This tidbit from The Politico caught my eye this morning.
Her district is the more Republican of New Hampshire’s two House seats, but it gave Barack Obama 53 percent of the vote last year. Despite being a top GOP target, Shea-Porter won 52 percent in her reelection bid.
Mayor Guinta has filed to run for the first district seat against CSP. The only question that I can see is will he make it out of the primary?
What say you?

It will be interesting to see who he runs against. If John Stephen and Jim Wieczorek both run, the Manchester vote will be divided three ways, and that could present an opportunity for either a seacoast person such as Sean Mahoney or a Lakes Region person such as Jeb Bradley to break out of the pack. Guinta’s negatives were only 8% statewide and 12% in the Manchester area (compared to 52% positive), but he doesn’t have a free ride. There are some Republican activists who may prefer a different candidate.

I understand the logic, but I doubt Jeb will run..

Whether or not you like Jeb, it would be an ideal opportunity for him because Guinta and Stephen would divide the Manchester vote while he dominates the rest of the district. Furthermore, I doubt Jeb cares much for Guinta since Guinta backed John Stephen after working for Jeb. Jeb may want to run for some other office though, or for state senate again.

I don’t get it. Is Jeb interested in legislating or just running for office? I just hope he focuses on this budget mess right now.
