Only 93% of the Time

January 27, 2010Matt Suermann

This morning’s UL editorial points out that CSP has changed her tone on how often she votes with Obama and the Democrat leadership in Congress.

Much more important was her confession at a town hall meeting in Manchester that, yes, she votes with President Obama and her party almost all the time. By her estimation, she votes with Obama 90 percent of the time and the Democratic House leadership (House Speaker Nancy Pelosi et al.) 93 percent of the time.

The UL also points out her hypocrisy and what her potential campaign slogan should be this year:

Why is this important? Voters care about hypocrisy. In 2006 and 2008, Shea-Porter attacked Republican candidate Jeb Bradley for being a “rubber stamp” for President Bush. Bradley voted with Bush 86 percent of the time. In both campaigns, she said she would be an independent voice for New Hampshire, a candidate who votes for her constituents, not her party. Her confession on Saturday reveals the lie in those promises. She is more of a rubber stamp than Jeb Bradley ever was.

Voters in the 1st District were had. But now that the truth is out, and by her own admission, let her campaign on her real beliefs this time: “I’m Carol Shea-Porter, and I’m a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi.” By her own definition of “rubber stamp,” that’s the truth. She should campaign on it and let the chips fall where they may.

If she is so proud of her connection with Pelosi and the Administration she will be happy to campaign with Pelosi and Obama in November.   She after all has been on board with their agenda from day one.  And for those keeping track at home, CSP sides with her leadership 7% more of the time then Jeb Bradley did when he was in Congress.

Meanwhile, Fosters points out the folly of her comments from her town hall meeting regarding her comments.  Not for the perceived sexist remarks but how CSP, and Obama, just don’t seem to get it.

“When Congresswoman Shea-Porter mentioned what the Republican Congresswoman had said, both men and women at the Town Hall laughed, because they knew the women were speaking lightly and with humor,” said spokeswoman Jamie Radice.

What is of greater concern than the specifics of her remarks on Saturday is that Shea-Porter continues to be a loose cannon.

Clearly, Shea-Porter has matured since those early days of her first campaign. But she continues to be a slow learner after a term and a half on the job.

Shea-Porter and President Obama seem to suffer from the same problem: They just don’t get it. They are incapable of showing that they understand the seriousness of the problems facing Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Public.

Apparently its OK now if people who hear the joke laugh?  I’m sure she feels the same way know about dirty jokes.  Fosters is right on with the comments that she is loose cannon.  This has been known for awhile.  Perhaps now 1st District voters will see how CSP operates once and for all.
