I’d like to thank the Nobel Academy…
October 9, 2009Even Barack Obama has to be at least a little embarrassed about being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize – and if I were a past winner who had actually earned the award (Nelson Mandela, Lech Walesa, Gorbachev, and Martin Luther King come to mind) part of my peaceful soul might be a little upset that my real sacrifices and demonstrated personal and political courage were being just a little devalued by giving the award to someone of Obama’s very limited achievements. The committee must have missed Saturday Night Live’s takedown of Obama’s accomplished record last week.
In related news, the Academy has named my son Myles, 4 months, Person of the Century in anticipation of his future greatness, and the kid hasn’t even mastered rolling over yet. And before tonight’s ALDS Game 2, Jason Bay will be named World Series MVP. I don’t know why they even bother to play the intervening games.

Yes, I have Great Intentions, and I will be receiving a Nobel Prize in Economics as a result! Whoo-hoo! What a joke this was.
Ironically, if Obama chooses to refuse the award, he will actually be a better man in my eyes than in winning it. I wonder if His Messiah-ship has the humility to do that?

I have to imagine that “…and he won the Nobel Prize for it!” is going to become a punch line.
