Huckabee Leads GOP Field; Dems Trail In Both Gov Races

October 16, 2009steve vaillancourt

Some interesting new polls are out from Rasmussen today.

For President, Mike Huckabee leads the GOP field with 29 percent to 24 for Mitt Romney, 18 for Sara Palin, 14 for Newt Gingrich, and 4 for Pawlenty.  More good news for Mike and Mitt.  With 8 and 9 percent, they are lowest in the who would you least like to see be nominated question.  Pawlenty has the dubious honor of leading there with 28 percent to 21 for Newt, and 20 for Palin.

81 percent of Republicans believe the GOP has at least a good shot at regaining the Presidency in 2012.

In the two gubernatorial races up next month, Republicans lead in both.  Republican  McDonnell is ahead of Deeds by seven points inVirginia (50-43–the seat is currently held by a Dem), and incumbent Dem Corzine, continuing a slur campaign against Christie in New Jersey, still trails 45-41 with third party Daggett apparently hurting the Republican with 9 percent.  Corzine is now attacking Christie for his excess weight!  Talk about alienating the all important hefty vote!

Obama’s favorability is slipping again.  Strongly favor is down to 28 while strongly disfavor is up to 39

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is viewed unfavorably by 58 percent to 34 percent favoring, a negative 24.  Dem Senate leader Harry Reid’s negative is 17 (28-45) while GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell’s is only negative three (28-31)..

Obamacare support, which blipped up a week ago, is down again, by about 6-8 points in most polls.

Just a bit of bad news on the generic ballot front.  The GOP lead is fluctuating between 2 and 4 points; it’s 2 this week.

Rasmussen data is easily presented at rasmussenreports.com.

Zogby.com has some fascinating numbers on health care with parties sharply divided.  Overall, 47 percent view health care as a right, 30 percent a privelege, but get this–Dems views it as a right by an 82-10 margin and Republicans by only 10-53.  Yes, the welfare state and socialism has permeated the Dem ranks completely with indvidual responsibility now only championed by the GOP.  I better stop lest I sound any more like Glenn Beck…does he cry on his Fox Show every night or only when I’m watching?

Truth in blogging:  my personal choice today would be Romney (assuming Ron Paul is not available) and Huckabee would be my least favorite.  In fact, the truth hurts, I could probably never bring myself to voting for the Huckster, just like Kelly Ayotte apparently didn’t vote for Republican for Governor the last few times (or has she not admitted that yet).

Huckabee, huh? Nothing like snatching defeat out of the mouth of Victory….sigh….there are days when I really believe that I will live to see the complete meltdown of one (or both) of the two existig major parties as in the 1860.
