How to Recruit More Young People
May 20, 2009For those GOP clubs, committees and chapters needing a Young Republican’s point of view (or just to have a Sam Adams), here’s a North Country lad willing to travel the distance to showcase our future generation: me.
Seriously, though, I’ve heard from many that the question constantly comes up, “How can we recruit more young people into the party?”
As a fairly young (28), single small-business owner, it’s easier to shape your lower taxes-limited government message to an age group that you “look like.” I get mistaken for a high school student sometimes, which I actually welcome because it gives me an instant appeal-factor that others might not have.
One of the biggest goals I have in my current role is to target, recruit, identify and train Republicans in the private/public schools and colleges. The theory is to “build a farm system” not just for two or four-year election cycles, but to replicate the success to last 10, 20 years…
So, if anyone needs a YR to speak, greet, drink or just talk politics or what not, let me know:

Here’s something that will attract young people: NEW IDEAS and NEW FACES.

Joey,
Thanks for the offer. All good structures are built from the bottom. It takes years to undo the years of liberal education most of our kids become indoctrinated to in public school system. I am still trying to understand the Ron Paul effect on young people in the last election. Maybe you have a few insights for me.
