Gale Thomson and Granny D Pass Away
March 9, 2010Earlier today, Conservatives across New Hampshire and all Granite Staters were saddened to hear of the passing of former First Lady Gale Thomson. All of condolence statements from both sides of the aisle honored her life and her service to the Granite State. Public officials, past, present, and future honored her life with class.
It similarily sad to note that campaign finance reform activist, and one time Democrat US Senate Democrat nominee Granny D passed away at the age of 100. While, few on this site agreed with many, if not all, of her policy positions, she still stood for what she believed to be true.
Gale Thomson and Granny D couldn’t have been further from each other politically. At the end of the day, they each were a part of the New Hampshire political culture and worked for what they believed was right.

CONCORD – Former New Hampshire Governor John H. Sununu released the following statement today on the passing of Doris “Granny D” Haddock:
“We are always saddened when someone with a genuine commitment to their values and principles passes away. Granny D was an unwavering advocate for her beliefs, and her tireless efforts inspired many Granite Staters to participate in our political process.
“Granny D was an activist in the New Hampshire tradition and our state will certainly be diminished by her passing. Nancy and I extend our condolences and prayers to her family during this difficult time.”
