Five Billion Dollars A Day!

August 25, 2009erniegore

Five billion dollars a day.

If this were Jeopardy, that would be the answer, and of course, we’d all have to come up with a question.

The question is–How much is it costing U.S. taxpayers just in interest payments on the national debt, Alex?

The staggering statistic, along with many others, comes from Glen Beck who has the rare distinction of being someone I like one day and loathe the next.  No doubt he’s a demagogue whe tends to be overly theatrical, but the had some great data on his Fox Show yesterday (5 p.m., reaired at 2 a.m.), and promises to have more of the same all week.

Can’t wait to see what he says today, especially since the President’s own people admitted today that they’ve underestimated the national debt by no less than two trillion over the next ten years.

Carol Shea Porter continues to insist that this health care boondoggle is necessary.  The number one question we should have for her at her forum this Saturday–

Isn’t it time we stopped spending money we don’t have?  Isn’t it time we stopped passing trillions of dollars of debt down to our grandchildren’s children?  (It used to be our children’s children, but we’re way beyond that thanks to Obama).

Five billion a day to service the national debt.

Those will be the good ol days by the time Obama and Carol are done.

Make it stop.

More than $28,000 for every man, woman and child in the country…that’s how much the national debt is now. That’ll seem like small potatoes when His Excellency is done with us.
