Evil Bush Tax Cuts And Dickensian Orphans

I’d like to thank Fred Morse of Merrimack for his letter to the editor (This morning’s Union Leader.)  He bemoans the moral failings of a nation with the phrase “what kind of miserable people are we American’s becoming?”  His thesis is that a nation of rich bastards living it up on the Bush tax cuts are responsible for a nation of poor uninsured Dickensian-N1H1 victims, all because we have not yet passed nationalized Health care. 

Fred seems to have not known or forgotten that even had we partaken of the glory of Obamunism and passed socialized medicine lickty-split, it wouldn’t go into effect for several years.   That’s thin gruel for today’s hungry orphans if you get my drift.  But that’s actually just an aside and of no concern because things are much worse for Fred than he imagines. 

Back on February 4, 2009 Mr. Obama and the democrats rushed to reauthorized SCHIP with loads of new bells and whistles.  Let me save you the hoary details.   Most or all of the children Fred wails for are already covered by a big Obamacare-like government run health care program.  It covers kids well into the middle class income range.  It covers illegal immigrants.  It covers pregnant moms.  It covers kids who have insurance already.  And it covers kids of the class of unemployed and funemployed with their dwindling annual incomes.

Second, and this is eqaully relevant, back during “the transition” and well into the summer Mr. Obama and later Kathleen Sebelius were bragging about how prepared they’d be for Swine Flu.  Turns out they either lied or the same person who does their vaccine projections worked on the post stimulus unemployment projections.  But more than likely it was simply the weight (wait?) of government bureaucracy that did them all in.  Call it their fatal flaw if you like, but if Fred really sees Flu ravaged children through his DNC prescibed BDS colored shades, they are his saviors own making.

The moral of the story?  Most if not all of Fred’s Flu stricken children, abandoned by his image of a rich and selfish America, are already covered by the very same kind of government health care he wants’ us all to have.    And those kids are probably only sick with N1H1because Mr.” Team Big Government,” the people who would actually be running your health care if Fred Morse had his way, screwed it all up.

So Socialized medicine still doesn’t work and we have Fred Morse’ thanks for pointing out yet another example of why.
