Clip & Save: Shea-Porter edition

Carol Thin-Skin Porter just couldn’t let the Union Leader’s factual point that she didn’t vote for a Hodes-backed ethics bill go unchallenged.

In her response op-ed she says she would have voted for the thing, but Congress doesn’t need the ethics reform. Her words:

if it becomes apparent that this system is not working, then I would be more than willing to explore other options, such as Rep. Flake’s resolutions. If misdeeds are uncovered, I will push for swift and firm punishment for those who have violated their oaths and the public’s trust.

You see when she first ran for the position in 2006, Jeb Bradley was part of a totally corrupt Congress simply because it was run by Republicans. Everything is great now that Democrats are in charge. Sure there is Charlie Rangel giving sweetheart tax deals to those who contribute to him or his causes. There is John Murtha taking care of defense contractors and building airports for himself. There is even Paul Kanjorski, chair of the Capital Markets subcommittee, who diverted millions in earmarks to his family, and then yesterday the House Ethics Committee is looking into if the California Reps Sanchez sister’s illegally used their payrolls.

But Carol has changed. She said she was for the 99 percent of us. Apparently she is just for her buddies in power.

Clip and save her quote above for a nice mail piece next year.
